Key questions
What does inflation-adjusted income measure?
The average disposable monthly income of a whole household, converted into the purchasing power of 2023.
How is it calculated?
Nominal income for the year multiplied by the official annual CPI for 2023, divided by the annual CPI for that year.
Why do real and nominal income match in 2023?
2023 is the latest complete year available in both data sources, so it is the reference price year.
Is the result a median or an amount per person?
No. It is a mean for whole households. Household size and composition can change between years.
