The same survey follows the money from gross income to saving. Taxes and compulsory premiums are already deducted before disposable income; housing is part of consumption.
Switzerland · All private households · Average · 2023 · CHF per household per month
The national mean covers housing and energy for all private households, including different housing tenures. It is not a market rent, a rent-only measure or an average restricted to tenants.
The HABE amount is the premium expense for the whole household under the source’s basic-insurance category. It is not an advertised premium per adult and does not describe total healthcare costs, deductibles or co-payments.
This is the national HABE tax expense category for whole households. It is not a statutory tax rate, a tax calculator or a cantonal comparison; it cannot predict a particular household’s tax bill.
The HABE saving balance is income left after the recorded expenses, including irregular receipts. It is not a bank-account balance, a wealth stock or a median. Some households spend more than they receive.
Saving = disposable income − consumption − other insurance, fees and transfers + irregular income.
Housing and energy are included in consumption above. Do not subtract them again.
Amounts are displayed rounded. Calculations and downloads use the source precision.
Survey estimates in current prices. Household size and circumstances differ; these are not individual bills or a recommended budget.
