Understand the measure

Where does it fit in the household budget?

This premium expense is already deducted when gross income becomes disposable income. Do not subtract it again from the disposable amount. Historical classifications and the 2022 survey break remain visible.

What does this measure cover?

The HABE amount is the premium expense for the whole household under the source’s basic-insurance category. It is not an advertised premium per adult and does not describe total healthcare costs, deductibles or co-payments.

Does the average describe my household?

No. It averages different household sizes, incomes and living arrangements. It is neither a median nor a figure per person. A positive average saving does not mean every household can save.
